Owned and Operated by Member Organizations

The EFAP Model is "owned and operated" by our member organizations. From initial design to implementation to ongoing maintenance, each non-profit ARS is administered by a Board of Directors comprised of the community organizations it serves. Each ARS is an autonomous entity responsible for administering and tailoring the program to your specific needs.

Our model is the only one of its kind to be recognized by the United Nations and in 1994 it was officially endorsed by the Canada Committee for International Year of the Family.

Today our EFAP/ARS Model is embraced by numerous employees (and benefiting family members) and has 6 supporting ARS offices in Canada and one in the United States. The EFAP/ARS Model is evolutionary in that we extend current clinical approaches in working with "family systems" to include the workplace. This view holds that the community, family, workplace and the individual employee are all interdependent and, to create meaningful change, the EFAP must broaden its sphere of influence to the entire system. while striving to inspire changing attitudes and cultures through proactive measures.

We are cognizant not to duplicate services which already exist in a community, but rather our focus is to compliment and enhance their efforts while fostering harmonious relationships.

  • Our unique, community based partnership of local employers and employees illustrates several distinct characteristics which set us apart:
  • Each non-profit ARS is a service owned and operated at the community level by those it serves.
  • There is no limit to the number of counselling sessions per individual or family.
  • An affordable, proactive, prevention-focused employee benefit program.
  • Services are accessed on a voluntary basis in a professional, off-site setting.
  • Each ARS maintains an extensive "Resource Library" for training and educational purposes.
  • Quality, caring and highly qualified staff.
  • We provide a broad range of intervention, prevention and wellness services.
  • Insight's counselling services are provided at no charge to the client.
